Day six of our family vacation, we got up really early to go to the Smoky Mountains.
As soon as we entered the park, the rangers were opening up and feeding some of the farm animals that live in the park. Jeremy loved checking out the chickens and pigs.
Eric had never been to the
Smoky's, so we wanted to make this a memorable experience for him. None of us had ever been to top the highest mountain, so we drove up to the top called
Clingman's Dome. We were looking forward to an amazing view from more than 6,000 feet, but when we got there we were lucky to see 10 feet in front of us because we were surrounded by a big cloud. I watched the thermometer on the car quickly drop the outside temperature from around 80 degrees to 57 degrees.
As quickly as we arrived back at
Newfound Gap, the clouds had started to lift.
While we were at the park, we grabbed a junior ranger book and completed several of the activities. Jeremy was the first Junior Ranger for the month so he got the regular badge, and the ranger gave him a special pin too (since he is just so darn cute!)
