Boom Chicka Bow Wow

This weekend Jeremy started singing this random song. He said that it came from Phineas and Ferb, but it took us all weekend to figure it out. I found the song he was singing, and you can click here for the youtube video.

Bald Pointe Beach

Melonie, Cyndi and I tried to take the kids to the Beach today. We drove down to Bald Point Beach State Park because it is a really quiet, low key beach that I thought the kids would have fun looking for hermit crabs and playing in the water. We pulled up, unloaded the car with ALL of our beach paraphernalia, hiked (ok, not really a hike) to the beach, and as soon as we put our stuff down, it started to storm. We stayed long enough to eat our picnic lunch and then we left to try to find somewhere it wasnt storming. We tried out the St Marks wildlife reserve... but, we didn't think it was a good place to swim (check out the sign behind all the kids in the picture below).So, we got back in the car and went to my mom's house to go swimming. That was so much better. The Blessings joined us and all the kids had a blast together!It was a busy day and after we got home and gave Jeremy a bath, we let him watch a movie on the couch, and he was out within just a few minutes! He NEVER falls asleep on the couch, so I thought this was really cute.

Junior Museum with the Blessings

Our last Tuesday morning outing was to the Junior Museum. We went with the Blessings again. All the kids had a great time checking out the animals... of course, I think the playground was hit of the day.

Marianna Caverns and Falling Waters State Parks

Yesterday, we took a trip to the Florida Caverns. My good friend Tara and her family came with us (click here to see her blog of the same trip.) The kids were even being VERY well behaved. We arrived at the caverns at 10:30 AM. Only to learn that we couldn't take a tour until 1:30 PM because all of the tours before then were reserved for 150 school kids. As we were standing outside trying to figure out what to do, another family told us about a "nearby" state park that had a swimming area and waterfall called Falling Waters. We were all so excited and explained to the kids that we would still go to the caverns, but it would be a little later. We packed up, found the location in my husbands new GPS and started driving. In the car, we were joking about our luck and how we would probably end up at the waterfall which would be three drops of water per day...... Ok, this is not funny! At the front gate there was a sign that said something about the waterfall being low at times of draught. Well, we have been in a draught for the last several years. So, the pictures below are about all the falling waters we got to see. We did get to see several sink holes, and Hopers was so cute counting them "two, three, four, five! Mommy there are two!"

The kids were a little disapointed, but they all managed to have a fun time. We had our picnic and their was a pretty nice playground area for the kids to play. Then we got back in the car, and as Tara mentioned in her blog, hooked all the kids up to their various electronics, and headed back to the Florida Caverns.When we arrived back at the caverns it started pouring rain. It was great for me to remind Jeremy that God made the rain to water the plants and it is not scary. This led to our discussion about God made the caverns as well and God is keeping us safe, so we didn't have to be afraid. It took a few times of reminding him before he actually had fun in the caverns looking at all the neat ways they had formed.Our guide taught us a lot of really interesting facts about the caverns: how they were found, the people who helped dig them out so they were big enough to walk in, and how they were formed.You are not supposed to touch anything because the oils from your hands mess up the way they grow, but this is one that it is ok to touch. Mary Brogan museum

We had another fun day at the Mary Brogan museum and at the capital. Today we had Lisette, Nicole, baby Michael, Kelli and Jayla come and join us today. I think everyones favorite part was the lift with pullys. Jeremy liked racing to see whose wheel could reach the end first.I thought this was really cool, you pull the string down and it shoots a tennis ball up in the air and then it lands back in the basket. Fun stuff!

Hook Wreck Henry's

After Sarah and Eric's graduation, we went to Hook Wreck Henry's in Panacea for dinner. It is a really awesome, laid back restaurant on the coast. They both got lots of graduation presents.

Jeremy got to look through a treasure chest for "pirate money" and a tatoo.

Learning with Shaving Cream

Since we are out of school for the summer I am trying to make sure Jeremy doesn't forget everything he learned this year at school. So, here was our first school lesson. We used shaving cream.... LOTS of shaving cream.I would make a letter, number or shape and he would make one next to mine and then tell me what it was. (And we are working on letter sounds.)

Then of course, we had to cleanup in the bathtub. Jeremy enjoyed scaring me by roaring like a lion.

Wakulla Springs

Jeremy and I had our first "summer field trip" to Wakulla Springs. It was fun showing Jeremy all the same things I did when I was a kid.
We took a boat ride around the springs and saw tons of animals. It was a lot of fun because we were on the boat with a bunch of red hat women. They loved having Jeremy on the boat! He was pointing out all the alligators and birds.
After we played, we went up to the lodge to check out "Old Joe" and get some ice cream. Jeremy thought it was funny the alligator had the same name as papa.
