Spring Piano Recital

Between moving and school we haven't been as devoted to piano as we should have been... but I was very impressed with what he did learn! This song is called "Spot."

Jeremy has come really far since our last piano recital in the spring. He really loves music!
Here is a video of him playing his song.

Jars of Clay

For Christmas, Joey surprised Jeremy and me with an early present. He got us tickets to the Jars of Clay Christmas concert. Jeremy was super excited!! Right before the concert started, they announced a drawing to win a guitar autographed by Jars of Clay. I always enter stuff like that but NEVER win. So I didn't think much about it when they were announcing the winners. "And the winner of the guitar is...... Jeremy!" It took me a few minutes to realize that they were talking about us! It was really sweet on the way home too, he was telling me he was going to keep doing really good at piano so he can learn how to play the guitar next and look, he doesn't even need me to buy him a guitar!
This is both mine and Jeremy's favorite song they performed!

SKILLET-E-DOO

Jeremy decided the day after Halloween last year to dress up like John Cooper of Skillet this year... so, Jeremy picked everything out from the Converse Allstar shoes to dying his hair black and making a mohawk! He even allowed me to give him a little "guy-liner" for a more dramatic effect.
(Here's a photo of Skillet. John Cooper is the first guy on the left.)

Piano Recital

Tonight was our first piano recital. Hopefully, the first of many! We have only been taking piano for three months, but I can't believe how far he has come! We are learning the notes of the keyboard and the beginnings of how to read music. I'm going to let him take the summer off from piano lessons. I'm planning on trying to keep teaching him a little at a time. Here is a video of Jeremy's performance.

Feel Like a Monster!

Jeremy's favorite band is Skillet! One day about a year ago he heard the song "Monster" and it was love at first, well note. So, when we found out they were coming to Tallahassee we absolutely had to go! It was a mommy-Jeremy date! So, here is Jeremy's first real concert experience. Here are a couple of videos below...

And here is "Monster!" Sorry it is so shakey... (it was a little hard to stand still.)

This was the classical portion of the show. LOVE IT! MY favorite part.

And just in case you haven't had enough of the pants on the ground... Here is Toby Mac's version.

First Piano Lesson

Jeremy has been begging to take music lessons for about a year now. He really wants to play the guitar and the drums, but we explained to him that he has to learn the piano first. So, we finally decided to let him take lessons. Here is Jeremy with his teacher, Ms. Kendall.

One Stary Night: A Christmas Play

This year at school, some of the kids in Jeremy's class got speaking parts in the Christmas play. Jeremy isn't afraid to talk in front of anyone, so he got a couple lines. I was really proud of my little man and his enunciation. My favorite part of the whole night was when my sister, Rachael, who I dont think she even knew he had lines, heard Jeremy speak she burts into tears and snot because it was "the cutest thing she had ever seen!"

We're still here... just having fun

Just a couple of photos of Jeremy having fun at home.... Matthew came over a few days ago and spent the night. Jeremy was thrilled to have a buddy to play with! Have I ever mentioned Jeremy wants to be a rock star, and his favorite band is Skillet. He got all these buckets and stuff our by himself to play the "drums" and gave us our own concert.

All About Butterflies

Just to show that we are learning things in Kindergarten, I want to share this video. So far Jeremy is having a blast and enjoys going to school every day. He had a slow start remembering where he left off at the end of last year, but we are catching up very quickly.

In his class, they have some caterpillars that they are watching go through metamorphosis. This is what Jeremy has learned. There is a song he was singing for me, that eventually has 6 butterflies.... so that is what the fingers are all about.

The Story of Baby Jesus: A Preschool Play

Jeremy's school had their Christmas play on Friday. It was the sweetest little program ever! I was really proud of my Jeremy who actually sang this year and did all the motions to his song. Last year, he just stood on the stage and cried because he couldn't find his daddy (click here to see last years program). I'm working on getting a video up of him singing his classes song "When the King Comes."Jeremy and his teacher, Mrs. Yolanda.

Boom Chicka Bow Wow

This weekend Jeremy started singing this random song. He said that it came from Phineas and Ferb, but it took us all weekend to figure it out. I found the song he was singing, and you can click here for the youtube video.

Singing at Celebration

This morning the VPK kids sang at church at Celebration. Jeremy really didn't want to sing, but after lots of bribing he decided to get on stage and sing and do the movements. Below is a of link of one the songs they sang.

Bigsby in Concert

I told Jeremy we were going to a show for kids called the Bigsby Show. He asked if it was like a concert. It was, so he wanted to bring his guitar. He wanted mommy to bring his drums too. I assured him that we wouldn't need the drums. At the show he had a lot of fun "playing" along. He even got to go on stage with some other kids to do the motions, but of course he only stood there and stared at the audience.
The Bigsby show is a guy who is christian singer for kids. Click here to check out his website. He also has some links on youtube.

Spring Play

Here are some pictures from the spring play at school. Jeremy's class sang "My God Is So BIG!" It was so cute watching them sing, of course Jeremy just stood there. But, that was an improvment over last time when he cried the whole time. Jeremy is the one on the top, far left with the navy shirt.
Can you tell how excited he was!
They also had an art gallery with all the kids art to raise money for the school. Here are Jeremy's art projects. It was cute because you could tell Jeremy actually spent time on these pictures... he isn't really into art. The first one was watercolor and the second was painting with pumpkins. They used mini-pumpkins (I think they are really squash or gourds) and cut them in half to use as stamps.

Rockin' Out with Jeremy

These are some of the songs we have been practicing at school for the Spring Program. Jeremy has really been into making music and singing lately.

"Praise the Lord! Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of the godly! Let Israel be glad in his Maker; let the children of Zion rejoice in their King! Let them praise his name with dancing, making melody to him with tambourine and lyre! For the Lord takes pleasure in his people; he adorns the humble with salvation. Let the godly exult in glory; let them sing for joy on their beds."
—Psalm 149:1-5
