Cross Country Roadtrip: St. Louis, MO

After Nashville we kept going all the way to St. Louis to meet Wanda and David. We drove across Illinois. Most of the state that we saw looked all the same.... lots of corn.
In St. Louis we went to the Gateway Arch and Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. It was really a cool place to visit. To get inside the arch and museum, the entrance is underground.
To go up the arch you have to take one of these little tram up to the top. The door is about 4 feet high and it is a tight fit for 5 people. We rode down with a family from Milwaukee that was very amazed by Florida weather. They thought the sunny eighty degree weather in St. Louis was blistering. This is the west view of St. Louis, MO from the top of the arch. This is the east view of the Mississippi River and across the river is Illinois. If you look at the bottom left part of the river there was a helicopter flying around. It looked like a little toy from 630 feet. The Jefferson Memorial Museum was underground as well. It was all based around the exploration of Louis and Clark. They had some cool stuff. Jeremy got to learn about buffalo... he told the park ranger that there were no buffalo in Tallahassee (Kind of an understatement!) They had a Junior Ranger program and Jeremy is now an official Jefferson Memorial Junior Ranger. I think that makes four National Parks this year. He loves completing all the activities, and it helps him really pay attention to what the park is all about.
When we were done with the arch we had a few minutes to kill and Jeremy had never been on a metro line, so we took the metro a couple of blocks around the city. Jeremy thought it was the coolest thing ever and wanted to ride forever.
