Jeremy's 5th Birthday Party

We were so excited to have Jeremy's 5th birthday party with all of his best friends. I worked extra hard this year to ensure this was a simple party with no major decorations, set up, clean up, and low budget. This was to be our first "destination party" or party not at a grandparent's house. My good friend made Jeremy the most adorable invitations I have ever seen (click here to see her blog about making them.) But you know what they say about plans.... that morning when we woke up it was raining and the forecast showed no signs of it letting up. We quickly made new plans and ended up back at Mimi's house.
The party ended up being great. It stopped raining long enough for the kids to play. We had the party a few weeks after Jeremy's birthday because the Cepeda family was in town and we really wanted Alex especially to be at the party. Because we thought it was going to rain all day and the kids would be inside for the party, we quickly came up with a few games and crafts for the kids to play with. Joey bought several fishing lures and pulled the hooks off. We put key rings through the holes where the hooks were. Then, we took wooden dowels and attached fishing line and paperclips to make fishing poles. All of the kids loved fishing! Our next project was decorating sailboats and bird houses. The kids each got to pick one out to paint and decorate with wooden cutouts. Some of the kids got into it more than others.
Carmen is so cute! The whole time she would go from person to person letting them pick her up to give her more food. She would point to what she wanted and no one could resist and tell her no!I was proud of my little cupcakes with Swedish fish on top.
